About Magic Square Mini Crosswords

Each 5x5 puzzle contains concise across and down clues interlocking over 25 letters. Designed for 2-to-5 minute mental sessions, they offer an engaging daily word puzzle challenge for your morning coffee break, daily commute, or study pause.
How Crossword Levels Work

You can start playing instantly. No accounts, emails, or subscriptions are ever required.
When you fill all 25 letters of a grid with 100% correct answers, that level completes and unlocks the subsequent level in the sequence.
Your completed level records and unlocked milestones are saved automatically in your browser's local storage so you can resume where you left off.

Understanding Crossword Clue Types
Recognizing the common styles of crossword clues helps you crack answers faster:
Direct synonyms or meanings. For example, "Canine companion" directly leads to DOG.
Indicated by an underscore (e.g., "Apple pie à la ___"). These are often the easiest clues on the board—solve these first to establish anchor letters.
If a clue contains an abbreviation (e.g., "Doctor's org."), the answer will also be an abbreviation (AMA).
A clue ending in a question mark signals a pun, double meaning, or humorous wordplay rather than a literal definition.
Mini Crossword Solving Strategies
Because 5x5 grids are compact, short words constrain many intersecting letters. Nailing the short words unlocks the entire 5-letter spine.
Never get stuck on an Across clue. Switch immediately to its intersecting Down clues to reveal 2 or 3 letters of the unknown word.
Plurals often end in S, past tenses in ED, and continuous tenses in ING. If a clue asks for a plural, pencil in the ending S first.
